So I heard this this morning and bought it immediately on vinyl. This is everything I want from death metal and I expected nothing less given the people involved. Also, big shout out to Rotted Life. I’ve been checking out your roster of bands and I think you’re fast becoming my favorite disgusting record label. Buy this now.

Rotted Life is equally proud and repulsed to announce the debut full length from Southern California’s Vrenth on LP, CD, and cassette. Comprised of members of Ruin, Necrosic, Ascended Dead, Exhumed, Gravehill, and multiple others, Vrenth made their first appearance in the Spring of 2019 with a 3 track cassette demo on Death Metal Cult and later on Italy’s Dismal Fate Records.
And now, as a fitting end to 2020, comes Baptism Death - a hulking, slithering, and disgusting slob of a release, intent on trampling everything in its path, and leaving a wake of strewn limbs, steaming innards, and utter destruction.
As primitive and brutish as this record might seem at first listen, you’d be mistaken to pass it off as “low-IQ” death metal. On the contrary, this was clearly made by veterans of the death metal underground, and the musicianship and craftmanship should not be overlooked, even as you’re getting savagely drubbed and abused

"Wrought by absolute diehards and blood-crazed madmen, Baptism Death blasts one of hell of a massive and gore-drenched production" Decibel Magazine
"Baptism Death growls and drools menacingly as it peeks up from the sewer: "hey kids, wanna hear about death metal?" Damn straight we do, and this California underground supergroup has produced something so foul, vile, and extreme that it deserves special mention for being just that disgusting. Also, riffs. Fucking riffs. Long live death metal!" Invisible Oranges
"Puke it up fast! What southern California death trawlers VRENTH are spewing you don’t want to ingest, this toxic sludge thick and blood-sick act has members of Ruin, Gravehill and Ascended Dead on board for this first album ‘Baptism Death". Guts-shaking filth, newborn sacrifice and plenty of monstrous doom piled on, too.". Grizzly Butts
"Such seedy death metal like this is so much of what we could always hope for out of any underground act that has any sort of promise, and it’s with their debut full-length that Vrenth delivers such glorious chaos in a way that cannot be considered anything other than fantastically vicious! Right from the very beginning, it is more than obvious that “Baptism Death” will deliver death metal excellence the likes of which will never grow old so long as it is put in the right hands, and it is undoubtedly the hands of Vrenth that are beyond worthy of such immense power." What else is pretty cool about metal at year end? You find out all kinds of heavy shit that slipped past you during the year. What an amazing debut release from Gosudar. Sick riffs, head-nodding "from the crypt" vocals with drumming to match - this record is a beast and just fucking rips from beginning to end. Thanks to Dante Ruivo for the on point recommendation! bcb723
