Neil Grace If Event Horizon had a killer death metal soundtrack then this would be it! Early 90s Finnish style DM with a modern sci-fi twist and an almost catchy set of songs.
Really looking forward to more from this duo. Killer shit!

about

With the release of their new EP, Boethiah takes the template of their self-released debut and ventures to far-flung, interstellar dimensions, with 6 tracks of sinister, cosmically crushing death metal. Celestial Gateway captures the classic HM-2 Swedish sound of the early ‘90s and infuses it with a hallucinatory, science fiction theme, while simultaneously expanding on the memorable, darkly melodic songs, ferocious hooks, and riff-heavy chug that marked their full length debut. It’s an insidious integration of the past and the future and a transcendental journey through time and space.
For fans of: Dismember, Morbid Angel, Horrendous, Fleshcrawl

“Boethiah …are prepared to take old-school death metal back into the stratosphere and propel us back into the “Lake of Fire” created by Nocturnus, while still being steeped in plenty of Grave, Dismember and Bolt Thrower to keep HM-2 enthusiasts happy.” Decibel

""Drifting Into the Void” is a prime example of Boethiah‘s unusual ability to integrate the revered HM-2-powered tone of Swedish death metal with alien musical ingredients that send the listener’s imagination out into the chilling vastness of the interstellar void. It’s not for naught that their music has been characterized as “an insidious integration of the past and the future” - No Clean Singing

" Each track is a well crafted slaughtering ...well written, well crafted and haunting...one the most exciting new death metal bands out there" Cadaver Garden

"Boethiah load their spacecraft full of BOSS HM-2s and get blasted deep into galaxies beyond on their new EP, Celestial Gateway. Comprised of buzzsaw guitars, cosmic atmospheres, and cavernous vocals, this California duo attempt to give the modern death metal sound a fresh and interesting facelift" Svbterranean

Track Name: Charting the Unknown
Departed on this journey
Where no man has gone before
Brave human pioneers
Charting the Unknown
The Odyssey takes its toll
And dementia sets in
Impaired by this plague
Thrown into psychotic rage

Schizophrenic crew
Sadistic thoughts within
Calls from the unknown
The ones who destroy
Rewired to slaughter
And they ravage the others
Broken by space and time
Their paranoid minds
Rot

“Human what dost thou seek, what do you seek?”

Departed on this journey
Where no man has gone before
Those who remain
Fight on for their lives

The mad have heard the call
(Human)
From voices of the Unknown
(Human)
Unwarranted Psychosis
Has led these men astray
Track Name: Succumbing to the Maelstrom
Stretched and contorted
Evaporating before your eyes
Time and space curved
Your mind is flattened

You scream for help
But to no avail
The vacuum takes its hold
Trapped for eternity

Witness your genetic code
Disintegrate in front of you
Molecular code erased
Memories begin to fade

You scream for help
But to no avail
This vacuum takes its hold
Trapped for eternity

Slowly
Drifting
Towards
The horizon

Slowly
Drifting
Towards
The horizon
Your genetic code
Lost to the void

Awaiting
Your fate
Instant
Incineration
Awaiting
Your fate
Instant
Incineration

You scream for help
But to no avail
This vacuum takes its hold
Trapped for eternity

Finally
The time has come
To join its ranks
Succumbing to the
Maelstrom
Maelstrom
Track Name: Drifting Into the Void
Drifting
Into the void
Endless vacuum
Serenity
Vast expanse of nothingness
The light of dying stars
My last vision
Before slumber

Approaching the gateway
Cosmic dust
Engulfs me

Into the void I pass
And to dust I return

Slowly losing sanity
Asphyxiating
No longer I breathe
My lungs now filling
With the cosmic dust
Into oblivion
Go now I must
Track Name: Beneath the Mist
What lies beneath the surface?
What lurks beneath the haze?
Mankind can only dwell
On secrets beneath
Shrouded in noxious fog
Mysterious clouded sphere
Unseen
By human eyes

Titanic hydrogen mass
Or exoplanet wasteland?
Beneath its swirling clouds
Are horrors never seen
Oceans of toxic vapor
Beneath the surface lurks
The Nameless Alien Spawns
And lifeforms yet unknown

Titans
Unknown
Xenogenesis
Of star spawned life
Panspermia
Proliferation
Extremophilic lifeforms
Biological feat
What lies beneath the surface?
what lurks beneath the haze?
(Beneath the haze)
Xenogenesis
Lifeforms unknown
Cosmic void of life

Lifeforms unknown
Track Name: Black Sea (Of Infinity)
Celestial force
Drawing mankind to the stars
New era of man
Interstellar journey

Heeding the call
Quest for knowledge deepens
Approaching the gateway
Warping time and space

Black sea
Of infinity
Black sea
Of infinity

Black hole's center
No type of matter escapes
Enter the void
From this there is no escape

What lies beyond?
The answers soon await
Event horizon
There is no turning back

Black sea
Of infinity
Black sea
Of infinity
“We live on a placid island of ignorance
in the midst of black seas of infinity,
and it was not meant
that we should voyage far.”
